Version 0.54 — Simplified Creatures

No 1.0 yet. I’ve been a bit busy working on a Gen 1 Pokémon RPG. This smallish update is basically just an update to how creatures work.

This version includes the following change:

  • Frailty has been changed into Hurt. A Positive Hurt value increases the damage a creature takes, a negative Hurt value decreases the damage.
  • Creatures no longer have pseudo hit-points by default and are back to rolling for damage. The death spiral for creatures just didn’t do what I wanted it to do and also felt against the conceit of how combat was supposed to work in this game—as an integrated part of the rest of the game and not a separate mini-game. This change also allowed for some simpler stat blocks. Since the roll results for dodging and using a move should now be consistent, I could just use the static number instead of the bonus.
    • This means that creature moves now list the Avoid value (what is needed to dodge or block that Move) and not the attack bonus.
  • Some small wording fixes.

Coming soon:

  • Not much, probably, I’m trying to finish a World Building supplement for my Pokémon RPG first.
