Questions

Can Fire from the Ashes be played together with the cards from A Long Extended Party?

The player cards in Fire from the Ashes are designed with minimal consideration to A Long Extended Party and none of the ALEP cards were used in playtesting. While we appreciate the efforts of the ALEP team, we felt that our design philosophies were too different to create a fully unified whole. (We also didn’t want obvious AI or Elspeth Tyrell on our cards, but that’s neither here nor there.) This should not stop you from combining FFTA and ALEP, but try to stick to thematic decks and avoid any potential game-breaking combos.

Is Fire from the Ashes available on DragnCards?

Yes! The author is Spoon if you want to find them quickly.

What happens to an exhausted Wainrider attachment when it turns into an Ally?

The Wainrider enters play exhausted. There probably isn’t an official ruling for this, so this is technically a new rule.

What does Calaerion‘s ability do? Which heroes does it work with?

Calaerion’s ability gives him a resource if you spend a resource from another hero’s resource pool to use an ability of that hero. This means it has to be an ability of the card itself, not of an attachment. The following heroes have an ability which triggers Calaerion‘s ability: Aragorn (core set), Balin, Elladan, Elrohir, Éomer (TMoF), Frodo Baggins (ASitE), Gildor Inglorion, Gimli (TSoH), Glorfindel (core set), Grimbeorn the Old, Na’asiyah, and Prince Imrahil (TCoC).
With Messenger of the King, this list expands to: Azain Silverbeard, Ceorl*, Déorwine*, Eldahir*, Ioreth, Robin Smallburrow*, and Súlien*. For those marked with an asterisk, you’ll need to find a way to give them an additional sphere.

Can Corsair allies use their resources to pay for Wilyador? What about Dwarven Sellsword?

Yes, the resources of Corsair allies (except for Fang of Sahír) can be used to keep Wilyador in play, since Wilyador only asks you to spend resources of any kind. However, they can’t pay for Dwarven Sellsword, since that one asks for a specific kind of resource.

How does Fréahild interact with effects which put her into play for a specific duration (e.g. Sneak Attack)?

Fréahild follows the precedent set by Thalion and Sword-thain. If she stops being hero, all effects which would affect her as an ally stop working. This means that using Sneak attack, Fréahild, and a Mount attachment, you can keep Fréahild in play at a pretty steep discount. Horns! Horns! Horns! is probably the most in-theme way of pulling this off. Be aware that this combo might be quite a powerful, so if you want to keep the power level of your decks reasonable, try not to abuse it.

How does Find Hidden Paths interact with Lanwyn?

Sadly, not well. Cancelling a card happens before all other effects and acts as if that card never happened in the first place, which means you can’t ready Lanwyn in response to a surge card to then cancel that card.

What happens if you activate the Greed Action of Ori or Book of Mazarbul and the bottom/top card of your discard pile is a hero?

Ignore any heroes in your discard pile when activating these actions. Simply put the card above/below that hero into your hand instead.

Can I activate the Action effect of unguarded objectives in the staging area?

Technically yes, but you can’t pay any costs for cards you don’t control. This includes exhausting the card. You need to claim the objective if you want to be able to exhaust it. (This might be a new rule.)

What happens if both Many-pillared Halls and Blocked Passage are in the staging area?

Blocked Passage stops you from placing progress on Many-pillared Halls, and therefore also prevents you from placing any progress on the current quest. You’ll need to get rid of at least one of them before you can put progress on quests again.

Does Lost Seeing-stone let you see each shadow card as they are being dealt?

Yes!
